When it comes to planning a school ski trip, there are a number of locations teachers the world over favour above all others. Most of these are located in the Alpine axis of France, Switzerland and Austria, a region which provides a unique blend of natural beauty, quaint locations and, of course, great slopes and resorts.
Just such a resort is Jungfrau, a true natural haven in the heart of Switzerland, which offers plenty for pupils to see and enjoy even outside of the right season for a school ski trip. The region offers a wealth of activities teachers can enjoy with their pupils during their stay at the Jungfrau resort, some of them quite apart from any manner of winter sports.
As noted above, Jungfrau's main selling point is its stunning natural beauty. The entire region is littered with breathtaking views, waterfalls and hiking trails which, while best enjoyed in the summer, will certainly not be lost on students enjoying a school ski trip during the winter months. Some of the paths offered by the region can also easily double as pistes in the winter or mountain bike trails in the summer, highlighting Jungfrau's versatility.
The main can't-miss attraction offered by this Swiss region is, however, the 'Jungfraujoch', a remarkable high and steep peak, accessible by cable car and offering marvellous views of the valleys below. In the valleys themselves, the students may want to discover the Lauterbrunnen and Trummelbach waterfalls, which make for imposing sights worthy of any photo album.
Other natural views offered by the region include a number of scenic peaks, lookouts and trails. These include the Aletsch Glacier, a UNESCO World Heritage site as well as Europe's largest glacier, the Bachalpsee Lake, and the Via Ferrata and Eiger hiking trails.
Should they wish to bring their pupils in from the cold after all these exciting sightseeing adventures or a day out in the piste, teachers might also want to try the indoor rope park at Grindelwald, which offers an excellent alternative for a fun evening away from the slopes. Although not recommended for a winter-time school ski trip, student groups visiting the region in the summer might also want to try the swimming pool at Wengen for a pleasant morning of splashing around.
All in all, then, there is plenty for a teacher and their students to do and explore while on holiday in Jungfrau.
